Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at an Olympic contest. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi later the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was six years old. The year 1969 was the first time she competed in the Romanian Junior Games and finished 13th. She was awarded the championship in 1970. In 1972, during a meet of communist countries junior athletes before the Olympics she was awarded three medals of gold. Then in 1973 and 1974, she became the all-around junior champ. In 1975, she took home four golds and one silver medal in her debut senior competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European champion. She was the first female ever to successfully perform a backwards double salto when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In her teens, Carol Wayne began working in the entertainment industry as a performer as figure skater. With her younger brother Nina Wayne she was part of a show that traveled called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 at Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her career in entertainment as a teenager. Her career began when she joined her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. It featured dramatic ice-skating shows.
