Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. In her early Broadway roles, she played in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning director as well as actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It's also available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is set to appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal actors into the very first impeachment trial in the United States in more than 100 years. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as in addition to Outer Critics Circle Awards in her character of Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the originating part of Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
