Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top acclaimed actors. Her fame is for playing strong characters that are as vulnerable. Linney was born to a single, unmarried mother who was a nurse. Her interest with theatre in summers spent with her father, who was famous. Her studies in acting were in Brown University, and later in Juilliard School. Starting her acting career on the Broadway soon after graduation, she made her debut in films within two years and on television in the year after. She has appeared on numerous stages, films and television productions since then. Through her entire career, she has received many awards, which include the two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. While she has received numerous awards through the years, performing has always been her first passion.
